Resource Consent
This is required for any event that could have a detrimental affect on the surrounding environment, seeing as this festival sees up to 25,000+ people daily during the festival, there is a toll taken on the Waiohika Estate where the festival takes place. Resource consent is required to increase the number of people camping on the estate from about 8,000 to 10,000. This is because the more people that are staying on site the greater effect there will be on the environment, regarding rubbish disposal, waste, carbon footprints and trampling plants/destroying grass with tents. Resource consent is also needed to allow the Estate to be turned into a temporary campground, it is needed as these people will be making an impact on the environment but also for safety. There is a deposit of up to $3000 to have this application processed in order to use the land, however extra costs may occur due to the size and time it takes to approve the application. It can take up to 4 months to process resource consent.

Marquees/Stages
In order to erect stages and Marquees at Rhythm and Vines the organisers will need to apply for Building Consent if one or more of the temporary structure is greater than 30m2, or 1.5m off the ground. The stages and Marquees are greater than this and pose a threat to event-goers safety. In order to avoid injury an application for Building consent must be completed, if it is granted the structure needs to be inspected by an officer of counsel to make sure it fits the safety criteria e.g can bare enough weight, build correctly. This application must be submitted 20 working days before the structure is required, the event planners will need to make sure to allow extra time for the temporary structures to be inspected before the festival.

Food Stalls
There are many food stalls in site at the Rhythm and Vines festival. In order to avoid sicknesses such as food poisoning due to under cooked food each stall owner must hold a stall holders license. The stall owner must fill out an application and allow 7 working days for it to be processed. There is no charge for this, however it must be checked that all stalls have a granted Stall holders license. The need for food vendors creates many jobs for local cafe owners. Amy Spence is one of these vendors who must increase the amount of food made to cater to the festival making 500+ breakfasts a morning (430 more than average) and 100+ dinners. This increases her profits but it is also free advertising her brand.
